Andy Bennett has been in technology since 1996 across functions and sectors, from banking to law enforcement, to oil and gas to applied research and more. He has had the opportunity to leave a positive impact everywhere he has gone, but the thing that has followed him throughout his career is incident response. He served as the Deputy CISO of the State of Texas from 2017-2020 where he was responsible for statewide cybersecurity policy. He is most well known for being the incident commander for the August 2019 Texas Ransomware attack that impacted 23 local government entities, and has managed the response to hundreds of incidents and investigations, including more than 100 ransomware incidents.  He is now the CTO, CISO of Apollo Information Systems where he has been building out a world class security services organization since he left public service after 14 years of total service. He has a few industry certifications (CISM, CBCP, ITIL, etc.) and holds a BA in History, an MS in Information Assurance and Security and is ABD for his doctorate in Learning Technologies.
